0/200Dahi Sev Poori is a Mumbai street-food icon — a bite-sized chaat that packs an entire flavor universe into a single crispy shell. Small, hollow, deep-fried puris are cracked open and filled with a scoop of spiced mashed potato and chickpeas, then drenched in cool whipped yogurt, tamarind chutney, and green chutney, and finally buried under a mountain of fine sev and fresh cilantro. The dish evolved from the broader *sev puri* family on Mumbai's Chowpatty Beach, where chaat vendors competed to create the most loaded, most flavorful version. The addition of *dahi* (yogurt) was the game-changer — it tamed the heat and added a creamy dimension that made the dish wildly popular.
Chickpeas add protein and fiber; potatoes provide potassium; yogurt contributes probiotics and calcium. The dish is vegetarian and relatively light.
